Harvey Creel met Edna Maud Gleason at a New Year's party in 1912. Harvey Creel married Edna Gleason 25 August 1912 at Jack County, Texas on Big Creek Bridge, half-way between Crafton and Cundiff. The couple lived in Wise County where the oldest son, Ancil Leon was born. Later they moved to Jack County near Cundiff where the second son, Lewis Leon was born.

In December 1915, this young family packed all of their belongings in two covered wagons, trailed a buggy, drove a milk cow with a new baby calf and started for Young C county. The next day they arrived in the Proffitt Community and settled on the land Harvey had already bought which is still the home place.

The Creel family attended the Proffitt Methodist Church where Edna sometimes taught a Sunday School class. Besides the usual cooking, cleaning, raising chickens, turkeys, and a garden, canning, washing on a rub board, rendering lard in the washpot, making lye same int he same pot, cooking for the thresher crew, picking cotton, etc. Edna had time to help neighbors and sew for grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edna was a charter member of the Proffitt home Demonstration Club organized in the 1920s. She was secretary of the club when they disbanded in 1967.
