In December 1915, this young family packed all of their belongings in two covered wagons, trailed a buggy, drove a milk cow with a new baby calf and started for Young C county. The next day they arrived in the Proffitt Community and settled on the land Harvey had already bought which is still the home place.
The Creel family attended the Proffitt Methodist Church where Edna sometimes taught a Sunday School class. Besides the usual cooking, cleaning, raising chickens, turkeys, and a garden, canning, washing on a rub board, rendering lard in the washpot, making lye same int he same pot, cooking for the thresher crew, picking cotton, etc. Edna had time to help neighbors and sew for grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edna was a charter member of the Proffitt home Demonstration Club organized in the 1920s. She was secretary of the club when they disbanded in 1967.
The Home Demonstration Club took the upkeep of the Proffitt Cemetery as a project in 1948. Mrs. Creel served as president of the Cemetery Association from 1948-1977.
She was a homemaker and member of Newcastle First United Methodist Church.
Survived by four sons - A.L. "Leon" Creel, Jean Creel, L.B. Creel, and L.L. "Lewis" Creel; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son - W.T. Creel and one daughter, Ruby Wells.
