Mrs. Carrie Fodness was born in Aurland, Sogn, Norway, January 24, 1846. She came to America with her people in 1864, landing in Quebec after a very stormy voyage of twelve weeks on a sail-ship.
They arrived at Red Wing, Minn. on July 4. Later the family moved to Freeborn County.
She married Halvor K. Fodness on June 15, 1870. The first year of their married life they lived on a farm near Austin, Minn. Then moved to Freeborn County. In 1893, they bought the home in Moscow township where they lived until Mr. Fodness passed away December 21, 1922.
She leaves seven children, namely: Mrs. Ben Bridley, Mrs. Ettie Aubrey and Jacob Fodness of Moscow; Mrs. Tena King of Minneapolis; Carl of Grand Forks, Minn.; Mrs Sina Balme of McGregor, Minn.; and Mrs. Mabel Anderson of Lincoln, Neb. Two sons, Knute and Gilbert died in infancy. She has forty grand children and nineteen great-grand children.
Mrs. Fodness was a charter member of the Oakland Lutheran congregation. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Aubry, January 105h, lacking 14 days of being 91 years old.
Relatives from away attending the funeral were: Mrs Tena King and daughter Carrol; Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Craddock and Janette; Mr. and Mrs. Wm Shaw, Mr and Mrs. Homer Kinney all of Minneapolis; Mrs. J.K. Balme of McGregor, Minn.; George King of Green Bay Wis. and Mrs. Charles Anderson of Lincoln, Neb.
