Obituary
Mrs. Mary Shifflett, wife of Hardin Shifflett, died shortly before 6 o'clock yesterday morning at her home on War Branch, a short distance west of Mt. Clinton.
Her death was caused by dropsy of the heart, after an illness of two months, and had been expected for several days. She was in her seventy ninth year.
Mrs. Shifflett, whose maiden name was Arey was born September 6, 1830, on Smith's Creek. Her entire life was spent in this county. She was a member of the Lutheran church, holding her membership with the congregation at St. John's.
She was an affectionate wife and mother and was venerated by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Shifflett is survived by five sons, B.B. Shifflett, an undertaker at Green Mount, David and Charles Shifflett, Singers Glen, John Shifflett, New Erection, Luther Shifflett, who lives at the home place, and one daughter, who also lives at home.
Mrs. Shifflett was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Mennonite church at Mt. Clinton. Rev. George E. Shuet, of the Lutheran Church will conduct the services, assisted by Rev. George Bundick of Singers Glen.
