Virginia Lou Gillespie, 83, of Houston, TX, went to be with her Lord on February 24, 2010, at 10:26 p.m.

She was born April 15, 1926, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to John Edward Carpenter and May Carpenter.

Virginia (Momo) was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Time spent with her family, friends, and at church was what she loved most.

Virginia graduated from the University of Houston with a teaching degree.

She earned her M.Ed from Lamar University. She taught kindergarten at Second Baptist School for over twenty-five years.

Her eyes would always light up when talking about her teaching days and all of her students she so dearly loved.

Virginia attended Second Baptist Church for many years, and in her later years became an active member of Bellaire Central Baptist Church.

She is survived by her three sons, Bruce and wife Martha, Stephen, Mark and wife Amy, grandchildren, Amy, Bessie, Susannah, Kirby, and Cooper, great-grandchildren, Donovan and Kaitlynn, brother, John Carpenter and wife Dolly and their children.

Visitation will be at Earthman Bellaire, 6700 Ferris St. on Monday, March 1st from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Bellaire Central Baptist Church at 7115 Mapleridge on Tuesday, March 2nd at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
