Mrs. A. M. McGowan Buried at Lovelady
Lovelady, Texas, July 15. - Funeral services for Mrs. A. M. McGowan, 102, Houston County's oldest resident, were held at Lovelady, with burial in the Lovelady Cemetery. A native of Mississippi, Mrs. McGowan early in life was a schoolteacher. After her late husband, a physician, joined the Confederate forces during the Civil War, she took up nursing. She had been a resident of Lovelady for more than fifty years. Survivors include a nephew, former District Judge Ben F. Dent of Crockett, and several grandchildren in Mississippi and Texas.
