Mrs. Glynda Rae Allen McCown, age 54 of Anchorage, Alaska, was born December 20, 1948 in Houston County and passed away peacefully after a long struggle with cancer on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 in St. Luke's Hospital, in Tempe, Arizona. Mrs. McCown had been living in Anchorage, Alaska since 1977 and had worked as a school teacher.
Survivors include her husband Lonnie Ray McCown, of Anchorage, AK.; mother Elvora Hare Allen, of Lovelady; brother Cecil Allen and wife LaRetta, of Houston; sisters Judy Flippo and husband Walter, of Conroe, Molly Gardner and husband Jack, of Nacogdoches, Cheryl Rotan and husband Arvel, of Waco; sister-in-law Mary Allen, of Lovelady; aunts Gertrude Currie, of Huntsville, Virgie Frieda, of Freeport; nieces, nephews, numerous other family members of both sides, co-workers, and a host of friends.
Preceded in death by her father Charley D. Allen.
Funeral services for Mrs. Glynda Rae Allen McCown were held Saturday, July 19, at 10:00 in the First Baptist Church in Lovelady with the Rev. LeRoy Pearson and the Rev. Scott Matthews officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady.
Pallbearers were nephews Pat Allen, Dean Rotan, Richard Gardner, Sonny Flippo and Craig Birch and nephews-in-law Bart Dalton, Ralph Cummings, Steve Pierce, James Peterman and Zach Granberry.
