According to his Washington State death certificate, Luther was the son of Luther Bachelder and Nancy Anne Cantrall. He was a mechanic. He was widowed.

In the 1900 Census he was a cannery worker in Fairhaven, Whatcom Co., Washington.

At the time of his WWI Draft Registration Card, he was living in Portland, Oregon and working as a Foreman in the American can Company. His card was dated 9/12/1918.

He married Lenora Yochim on May 15, 1926 in King Co., Washington.

His parents are buried in the Greenwood Hill Cemtery, Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon. Luther's brother Frank, and his sisters Myra Church and Ruth Bachelder are also buried here. Their portraits can be viewed on their findagrave pages.
