Roger Jud McElroy Sep 21, 1914 Oct 24, 2001 Asheville - David Roger "Jud" McElroy, 87, of 33 Baker Place died Wednesday October 24, 2001 at the Laurels of Summit Ridge after an extended illness.
A native of Haywood County, he lived most of his life in Asheville. He retired in 1975 from Norfolk & Southern Railroad with 33 years of service and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Frank and Ethel Rogers McElroy. He was also preceded in death by his son, Charles H. McElroy and brothers, Bill, Reid and Jr. McElroy.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Margaret Coleman McElroy of the home; daughter, Patricia J. McElroy of Asheville; sister, Opal McElroy Dixon of Norfolk, Va.; brothers, Paul McElroy of Madison County; J.C. McElroy of Asheville and Britton McElroy of Conway, Ark.. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Gene King and Stanley Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
