"Mrs. Ross Best, County Native, Dies in Brevard
Mrs. Ross Smith Best, 86, of Dunn, a native of Johnston County, died Sunday morning at the home of a son, Farquhard S. Best, in Brevard.
She was a daughter of the late Dr. Farquhard and Sarah Elizabeth Sanders Smith.
She was an aunt of Miss Elizabeth Young of Smithfield and was a frequent visitor in the community.
Her husband was the late Lee Jackson Best.
She was a graduate of Peace College, and she was a charter member of the U.D.C.
A funeral service was conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Divine Stret Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 42 years. The Rev. B. D. Critcher officiated. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.,
Surviving are three sons, Farquhard S. Best of Brevard and Lee James Best of Dunn and Washington, D. C., and Coll Hinton Best of Detroit, Mich."
