Carlos Gibbons was the son of Jedidiah How Gibbons and Elisabeth (Cowdery) Gibbons of Granville, Massachusetts, USA, as recorded in Granville Vital Records, 40. Two birth years were given, 1791/1793. The Society of Mayflower Descendants approved the later date 17 March 1793 as the birthdate in 2001. Carlos was married to Almira Tinker 27 February 1815. They were enumerated in the 1850 census with six others in the household. When I visited the library at Granville, there was a family group photo hanging there that resembled the same hanging in the stairwell of my great-aunt Evelyn (Coe) Parsons. A collection of individual photos arranged with Carlos and Almira Gibbons in the center and each of their eight children in a family circle around them provided a family to be remembered. Carlos Gibbons was accepted as an eighth generation descendant of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren in 2001. Although the birth and marriage dates were approved from Granville Vital Records by the Mayflower historians, the death date was not verified. A record of death at Granville, Massachusetts, in 1865 suggested a later birthdate, about 1801, and a different birthplace, Hartland, Ct.
