Thomas Marion Stewart, age 82, passed away August 21, 1999 in Salt Lake City due to effects of a massive stroke.

Tom was born June 23, 1917 in Alamo, Nevada, the seventh of 11 children born to Sumner Udell and Sarah Jane Paris Stewart. Married Anna Lenora Taylor June 7, 1940 in St. George, Utah; solemnized in the St. George Temple February 8, 1945. His family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when Tom was 7. He lived there until July of 1998 when he and his wife moved to Taylorsville, Utah. Tom worked for the Post Office during his early marriage then branched into road construction work for many years. He did the work of a civil engineer and was connected with much of the original construction of Interstate 15 in southern Utah and Nevada. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was stationed in the Philippines.

He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served for many years including as a High Councilor, Bishop, Bishop's Councilor, and Elders' Quorum President. His life was centered around his family where he was greatly respected for his unconditional love and sincere concern for his wife, daughters and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. He will be sorely missed by family and friends. He leaves a great legacy of honor and integrity which his descendants wish to emulate.

Tom is survived by his wife, Anna; daughters, Marion (Brent) Peterson, Farmington; Lou Anne (Richard) Schwendiman, Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Tammy) Peterson, Layton; Julie (Kevin) Ruesch, Las Vegas, Nevada; Tom (Stacey) Peterson, Bountiful; Amy (Robert) Winder, Magna; Mary Linda (Scott) Thompson, Rochester, New York; eight great-grandchildren, Kathryn Peterson, Stewart Winder, Sumner Peterson, Kent Thompson, Soren Peterson, James Winder, William Peterson and Anna Jane Thompson; two sisters, Helen Law and Beverly Hope, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters, Ruth Bradford, Paris Stewart, Arlene Potter, Marguerite Yarbrough, Wayne Stewart, Don Stewart, Grant Stewart and Kent Stewart; great-grandson, Michael Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 12 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where friends may call Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
