Mrs. Machen, 68, Former Winn Resident, Dies
Mrs. Mildred Caskey Machen, 68, of 173 Riverview Circle, Bossier City,
formerly of Winnfield, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, November 21, 1971 at Bossier
City General Hospital after a sudden illness.
Widow of the late Hershel M. Machen, Sr., she was a member of the Shady Grove
Baptist Church, a native of Bienville Parish, and had lived in Bossier City
five years.
Survivors include four sons, M. Sgt. W. A. Machen of Ft. Riley, Kan., D. C.
Machen of Bossier City and Hershel Machen, Jr., and James Machen, both of
Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. Mable Ellis of Hosston, Mrs. Maudine Walden of
Shreveport, Mrs. Eva Pope of Bossier City, and Mrs. Bobbie Clark of Ridgeland,
Miss.; four sisters, Mrs. Archie Bryant of Shreveport, Mrs. Minnie Walsworth
of Pineville, Mrs. Ruby Scoggins of McLeod, Tex., and Mrs. Clotile Dumas of
Atlanta; four brothers, Teel Caskey of Bossier City, Allen Caskey of Castor,
Jepsey Caskey of Laurel, Miss., and Leon Caskey of DeQuincy, and 24
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home
in Bossier City by the Rev. Earl White, pastor of the Shady Grove Baptist
Church, assisted by Rev. C. C. Martin, pastor of Laurel Heights Baptist
Church, Winnfield. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers included grandsons of the deceased.
