PHILLIP GENE MORRIS SGT US Army 82nd Airborne CIB, age 66, passed away peacefully at home in Rialto on February 22, 2010.

Phillip was born June 12, 1943, in Garden City, Kansas. He grew up in a large family of 11 kids, and was the 5th child of Thomas Morris and Chezelle (Chandler)Morris. Preceeded in death by his parents, sister Betty, and brothers Garland and Kenneth. Phillip is survived by Ethel, his loving wife of 42 years; daughter, Cheryl Thompson and son-in-law Sean; granddaughters, Samantha and Caitlyn; and grandson Scott; brothers Clifford (Karen), Charles (Patty), Allen (Tanna), Tommy, and Duane; sisters, Ann (Bob) Arends, Deloris (Buddy) Wilcutt. He proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam. In 1968 he met the love of his life, Ethel, and the two were married a very short time later. He was always known for his "bigger than life" presence, and never left anywhere unnoticed. Phillip was generous beyond words to those he loved and cared about. He would quietly give his last dollar to a person in need, never needing praise, or repayment. He never did anything small, instead, the saying "Bigger is Better" became his mantra. A simple backyard brick BBQ, quickly became an outdoor living area, complete with sink, stove, oven, refrigerator, and of course the BBQ. He was happiest when family and friends were over, swimming, while he manned the BBQ, cooking his out of this world ribs. For his 1st granddaughter, he built a playhouse in his backyard, and following his mantra, he added a white picket fence and a playground, sandbox, and a fully landscaped yard. He will always be missed and forever loved.
