The Wellington Leader February 1, 1973

Mr. Wooldridge died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, in Northwest Texas Hospital, after an illness of a little more than two weeks. A lifelong resident of the county, Mr. Wooldridge was born here September 28, 1913, the son of the late Leslie and Lillian Burt Wooldridge. He was graduated from Wellington High School in 1934, and played on the Skyrocket football team. He then attended Altus Junior College. Not only was Mr. Wooldridge a successful farmer, he was keenly interested in the welfare of all farmers. He helped to organize the Collingsworth County Farmers Union and served as vice president and a director. He held the latter post at the time of his death. Mr. Wooldridge was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was first married to Miss Allene James, and she died Januury 24, 1951. He and Miss Lucille Bennett were married August 8, 1953 in Clayton, NM. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Morton of Los Alamos, New Mexico; two brothers, Ray Wooldridge of Pampa and Grant Wooldridge. and two grandsons, Gary and Byron Morton. A daughter, Connie Jay died in infancy January 9, 1951.
