WELLINGTON, Texas - Walter Robert Franks, 76, retired furniture store owner, died Saturday at a nursing home in Childress.


Born December 17, 1891, in Lockhart, Franks married Pearl Hawn January 30, 1981, in Frederickstown, Missouri. He moved to Wellington from Blue Mountain, Arkansas He was an active member of the Methodist Church.


Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the First Methodist Church of Wellington, with Rev. R.T. Dyess, pastor, and Rev. Lester Hill, chaplain of the Veterans Hospital, Amarillo, officiating


Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Wellington under the direction of Kelso Funeral Home.


Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Vernene Day, Comanche, Texas; two brothers, Rev. Math Franks Sayre, Oklahoma and Homer Franks, Athens Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Hamman, Amarillo, and Mrs. Opal Pennington, Sudan, Texas; and one granddaughter, Mrs. Karen Ann Watson, Fort Worth.
