Viola Virginia Murphy Ochiltree, 81, of Newberry, widow of Jerry W. Ochiltree, died Friday, February 3, 2017.

Born on November 11, 1935, in Columbia, she was the daughter of George and Viola Oxner Murphy. From the age of two she was reared by Rufus D. and Sue W. Oxner. Mrs. Ochiltree was retired from American Fiber and Finishing Kendall Plant and attended Freedom Baptist Church. She was a loving mother who enjoyed family and friends and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by a son, Stacey (Christy) Ochiltree; daughters, Gail (Wayne) Farmer, Anita (Danny) Kinard and Sue (Mike) Howe; a sister, Nellie Howard; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, February 6, 2017, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Stacey Ochiltree, Michael Kinard, Matthew Kinard, Danny Kinard, Wayne Farmer, Brian Farmer, Mike Howe, Chris Winn, and Zack Bannister.
