"GRANDMA" HOWARD DEAD
Mrs. [Mary] Jane Howard, better known as "Grandma," mother of Charley Howard, died at the home of her son in the south part of town, Wednesday, February 12.
Mrs. Howard was born August 23, 1842, and would have been 88 years of age had she lived until her next birthday.
The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the M. E. church by the Rev. H. E. Snodgrass, pastor.
Mary Jane was the daughter of William Richard "Dick" Greenwell & Evaline/Eveline Raymond. Supposedly, Eveline died while traveling to or through Old Shawneetown, Gallatin, Illinois, may have been pregnant with Mary Jane or Mary Jane was a small child (as was most likely the case since Richard remarried to Rachel Davidson Counts 29 Oct 1850, Vernon County, MO), though the older sisters were born in Kentucky, while Mary Jane was the only born in Ill.
