Stephen Breazeale Sr. was born 1881 in Selma Alabama to Daniel M Breazeale and Jennie E Alexander Breazeale.
Stephen spent his childhood and teenage years in and around the Selma and Mobile Alabama area until his father Daniel moved the family to Atlanta near the turn of the last century.
When hostilities broke out between Spain and the United States, Stephen and his older brother John Breazeale joined the 29th US Volunteer Infantry in 1899 at Ft. McPhearson in Atlanta. After training, both were sent to fight in the Philippino-American war.
At the end of the war, about 1902, Stephen returned to Atlanta and found work as a Terra Cotta Molder and lived with his mother and father. Daniel Breazeale was an insurance agent and Jennie Breazeale was a home maker.
Around 1903 Stephen Breazeale met and later married Lou Elanor Blackmon, a native of Stockbridge Ga.
During 1904 it appears that Daniel Breazeale, Stepehen's father, died suddenly in Atlanta, leaving Jennie, Daniel's wife a widow. Stephen and Lou Elanor and Jennie then began living together until Jennie fell ill herself in 1906 and was admitted to the Old Grady Hospital Nursing Home.
At present there is no information available as to the grave site of Daniel M Breazeale or of Jennie E Breazeale.
Stephen and Lou Elanor took up residence in East Point Ga where they had four children. Two Sons and two Daughters.
Stephen and Lou Elanor were loved and respected by all who knew them during all the years that they lived out their lives in the Atlanta area.
His children were, John Daniel Breazeale, Jennie V Breazeale, Geneva Breazeale, and Stephen Breazeale, Jr.
Stephen Breazeale Sr. died of pneumonia in late 1939 and his loving children cared for Lou Elanor the rest of her life until she too passed in 1957.
This my tribute to my grandfather Stephen Breazeale Sr. who died before I was born but whom I will always admire and respect for the man he was and for the great father he was to his children.
