Frances E.daughter, of Mr. and Mrs.Frank Mahan,1226 N. Union street, died in Decatur and Macon county hospital Friday morning at 2 oclock after an illness of one week,a weak heart developing as a result of an attack of influenza. A heavy cold developed into influenza and Monday Miss Mahan was taken to the hospital where seemingly she was making progress against the disease. Thursday she suffered a collapse, her heart having been unequal to the test. From that she was not able to rally and her death occurred early Friday morning.
Miss Mahan had passed practically all of her life in Decatur attending the public schools and graduating from the High school with the class of 1917. Later she took a course of business college and recently has been engaged as stenographer in the Illinois Central freight office. She enjoyed an extended acquaintance among the young people of her own age and was popular with them.
She was born in Louisville,Ky, April 9, 1898 while that city temporarily was the home of the family but except a short period in the city of her birth had always lived in Decatur.
She leaves her parents and the following named sisters and brothers, Mrs.W.R.Miller,Anaconda,Mont.J.Terrance Mahan,Louisville,Ky,Miss daisy and Florence Mahan,Lyle and Frank Mahan Jr.all of Decatur.
The body was taken to the rooms of Dawson & Wikoff. Funeral services will be conducted in the home Monday afternoon at 3 oclock. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
