McArthur - Mrs Carrie B Pettit, 76, of Creola Route 1, died Saturday at Mount Carmel hospital in Columbus.

Mrs Pettit was born in Jackson County, daughter of the late Charles W and Melissa Johnston Harden. She was a teacher for 37 years in Hocking and Vinton Counties. She was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church, the Allensville Grange, Vinton Pomona Grange and state and national Grange.

She was also a member of the Vinton County Retired Teachers Association and the Locust Grove Community Club.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs Edna Dunkle of Lancaster, and three brothers, Bundy of Columbus, Milford of McArthur and Justice of McArthur Route 1.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, two sisters and one brother.

Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the James N Blower Funeral Home by the Rev Wilbur Hilt with burial in the Elk Cemetery.
