Dorothy Jean "Dot" Burnam
Dorothy Jean "Dot" Burnam, age 83, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born May 15, 1926 in Lamesa, TX to Charley Leonard and Allie Mae (Key) Mullins.

Dot grew up on a farm near Lamesa and graduated from Lamesa High in 1942. She attended Texas Women's University in Denton where she fell in love with Henry Clayton "H.C." Burnam. Dot went on and attended Texas Tech for a short period, then quit school and got a job to help H.C. finish his degree. On June 1, 1946, they were married in Lubbock, Texas.

Together they raised three children and enjoyed 62 years of happy marriage. They moved to Iraan, where they became active members of the community over the next sixty years and Dot settled in as a housewife and homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress and made all the kids clothes. Dot was a perfectionist and although cooking was not a favorite thing to do, she poured her heart and soul into it. The big meal for the day was always during lunch time, when H.C. and the kids came home from work and school.

Dot was an avid sports fan and she and H.C. never missed a game or meet in which her children participated. She loved to watch Dallas Cowboy football, Dallas Maverick basketball, and golf on television.

Dot will be lovingly remembered by one son, Randy Burnam and wife, Cynthia of Plainview; two daughters, Sherry Munkres and husband, Scott of Aztec, NM and Karla Aldridge and husband, Stephen of Jal, NM; three sisters: Marcy Robison of El Paso, Ann Newman of Odessa, and Shirley Reynolds and husband, Duane of Silverton, TX. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Randal Burnam and wife Michelle, Kyle Burnam and wife Lisa, Caleb Aldridge, Seth Aldridge, Heather Olguin and husband Leo, Bradley Munkres and Karah Munkres, and two great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Jacob Olguin.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Henry Clayton "H.C." Burnam in November 2008. She is also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, A. P. Mullins.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Iraan, TX with Pastors Mike Mitchell and Mike Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, 1111 Herring Ave. Waco, TX 76708 or to YWAM (Youth With a Mission), c/o Randal and Michelle Burnam, PO Box 620487, Orlando, FL 32862.
