Funeral for Myrtie Bruce, 92, of Wells, was at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Wells with the Rev. Horace Fletcher officiating.
Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of Gipson Metcalf Funeral Directors of Lufkin.
Mrs. Bruce died Jan. 4, in a Lufkin hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1907, in Cherokee County to the late Stonewall Jackson and Martha Elizabeth Summers McKnight.
She was a lifelong Wells resident and a homemaker. She worked for the Wells Independent School District and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bruce was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bruce, her daughter, Irene Flournoy and her granddaughter Peggy Rodriques.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty A. Morris of Lufkin; two sons, Simms J (Pete) Bruce of Pollok; and Edgar Bruce of Wells; a sister Inez Gulledge of Wells; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers included Michael Bruce, Billy Brewer, Mike Horton, Billly Horton, Tim Davis and Alan Thigpen.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Horton, Earnest McKnight, Mark Lowery and Cecil Smith.
