George David Gifford was the second son of Humphrey J and Hellen Wyckoff Gifford of Greenwich, Huron County, Ohio. About 1890, George left Ohio to work in Westchester County, NY where he met and married Edith Brundage in 1893. By 1910, George, Edith and their sons, Allen, Vernon, Rolland and Herbert had relocated to a dairy farm in Weston, Connecticut. George was active in the volunteer fire company and other organizations in the community.
