RITES HELD FOR BURNSIDE PIONEER

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Arthur McGuinnes, were held Tuesday, Jan. 19, at St. Mary's church of Burnside for Mrs. Frank Bader, age 83, former pioneer resident of Burnside, who died at the home of her son, Leo J. Bader, of Detroit, January 16, after an illness of over four years of paralysis.

Mrs. Bader, whose maiden name was Mary Anna Heim, was born March 9, 1848 at Mohawk Hill, Lewis County, New York. At the age of 11 years, she came to Michigan with her parents, who located in the southeastern part of North Branch Township. In June of 1866, she was married to Frank Bader, to which union were born 11 children.

Surviving are the husband, age 91 years, and four sons and six daughters, Frank Bader of Boyne City, Mrs. Robert DeShields of Reedley, Calif., Mrs. James Small of Chicago, Mrs. Joseph Delaney, Gregory and Leo J. Bader of Detroit, Mrs. Theresa Blonde of Burnside Township, Mrs, John Harper of Rich Township, Mrs. Rose Swoish, North Branch Township and Anthony Bader of Deerfield Township. One daughter, Margaret, died August 24, 1926. She also leaves 44 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was the daughter of Adam and Anna Scharf Heim. Her siblings include Cray, Lucy, Caroline, Anna/Nancy, Joseph, and Adam. Mary Ann married Frank Bader and their children were Mary, Frank, Rosa, Theresa, Anthony, Elizabeth, Anna, Caroline, Gregory, Margarett, and Leo.
