Daughter of Chester Loammi Bean and Carrie Ella Taft

Viola grew up on the family farm in Newark, Vermont with her 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

At the age of 19, on March 3, 1917, she married Homer Gustin a 28-year-old carpenter. From their marriage, 3 daughters and 1 son were born. This marriage ended in divorce in January of 1930.

On March 8, 1939, she married Alfred 'Fred' Brunelle and together they welcomed a son, Frank.

They were married 32 years until Fred passed away in February, 1971. Viola would live only 5 months without him before she died on July 18th.
