Alva M. Dentler, 78, of Monroe Township, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010, with her husband of 60 years, Jay A. Dentler, by her side.

She was born December 14, 1931, in Carleton, MI, the daughter of the late Frank P. and Marie (Miller) Stephenson.

Alva met her husband in 9th grade at the Mechanicsburg High School and was a member of the class of 1949. Alva was the former owner of Alva's Little Shop and was also a floral designer for Stephenson's Flowers. She was also a claims examiner for 10 years with Blue Shield and for the last 40 years she worked as an antique dealer and craft woman.

Alva is survived along with her husband by her daughter, Cathi E. Dentler of Boiling Springs. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff C. Dentler, one brother, Harry L. Stephenson, one sister, Beverly A. Vancena and numerous pets.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2010, from 10-11 am at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Rd.
