MacDonald Williams was raised by adoptive parents Joseph and Melissa Williams, who were born in Illinois. According to MacDonald's grandson James Harry Williams, MacDonald was an illegitimate child of Isaac Pritchett. Dick Williams believes that Joseph Williams (MacDonald's adoptive father) was actually MacDonald's grandfather. There are suspicions that Melissa was Joseph's daughter and may have been MacDonald's biological mother.

Isaac Pritchett was a farmer. He enlisted in the Union Army on 16 Aug 1862 and served in Company H of the 120th Illinois Infantry. He saw action at Guntown, MS on 10 June 1864 where he was stricken with sunstroke. He was discharged at Memphis, TN on 10 September 1865.

According to Isaac's pension records at 67 years of age, his height was 6'1", complexion was light, hair was light, gray eyes.

He lived in Omaha, Illinois in 1888.

He died 7 March 1906 in Gallatin County, IL, while living with his daughter China and son-in-law William Sharp.

He was buried at Adkin Cemetery in Gallatin County (also known as Bethlehem).

According to the cemetery book there appears to be a B W Williams buried next to him..

There is a B W Williams listed in the rosters for the 29th Illinois Infantry, Company C. They are very likely the same person.

Isaac Pritchett obituary in Shawneetown newspaper:

Interment at Adkin cemetery Thursday
