John Garrison died at his home, corner of North Dixon avenue and Morgan street this morning about nine o'clock. Yesterday he drove in a wagon to his farm, five miles in the country, and was overcome by the heat. His sister, Dr. Harriet Garrison, was called to his aid at fout o'clock this morning and left him greatly releaved. After breakfast she visited him again and found him comfortable, but while she was making a call in the neighborhood she was again summoned to his side, and found him unconscious and dying from appoplexy. Dr. Law came but nothing could be done and he died in half an hour. Deceased was aged fifty-seven years, was born in Columbia Co., Pa., and came to this state and Lee county with his parents in 1845, stopping first on what is known as the Brierton place, east of this city. His wife, whose maiden name was "Mirandia" Depuy, died three years ago. Ten children were born to them, eight of whom are now living. The funeral will be held at the late residence Sunday, at 2 p.m., Rev. S. R. Earngey officiating. The remains will be taken to the cemetery at the Garrison school house for burial.
