Services for R.L. Bailey Jr., 78, of Reidland will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. The Revs. Brian Hayes and John Shirey will officiate. Burial will be in the cemetery of Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he was a member.
Mr. Bailey died at 4:15 a.m. Monday at his home.
He was a retired engineer for the U.S. Geological Survey. He was a charter member of the Reidland-Farley Lions Club; served for 21 years on the board of directors of the Jackson Purchase Electric Cooperative Corporation, now Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation; and served as a trustee of the Paducah Bank and Trust Co.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine Wynn Bailey; one daughter, Judith Bailey Davis of Houston; one sister, Ethelyne Bailey Brigman of Reidland; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. His parents were Raymond L. Bailey Sr. and Stella M. Rudolph Bailey.
