George A. Redman Jr. was born in El Paso, Texas, and was the son of George A. and Josephine Flippen Redman. He was a jazz musician and drummer. In WWII George Jr. served in the US Army in Germany and in Europe. His father, George Sr. was born in Massachusetts. George Sr's father, Cockcroft Redman, was born in England and his mother was born in Nova Scotia. George Sr. was a jazz pianist and leader of the George Redman Jazz Orchestra. In the 1920's his orchestra played at Cabrillo Ship Cafe at Venice, California. During the 30's and 40's the Redman Orchestra was a part of the West Coast jazz scene. George's Orchestra later played at the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas.
