Travis Dean Watson, 96 years, passed away on February 16, 2010 in his home in Ava. Travis was born June 11, 1913 in Huckabay, TX to Charles and Virginia (Pack) Watson. On April 18, 1939 Travis and Gracie Mae McKnight were united in marriage in Stephenville, TX and to this union one son, C. Dean was born

Travis Dean spent his early adult years in the Wichita Falls and Stephenville areas of Texas before moving to Dallas, TX. In Dallas, he worked as a carpenter for the Austin Brothers Co. for many years. After retirement he was a cattleman in Arkansas and Texas before moving to Ava, MO area where he was residing at the time of his passing. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Travis Dean was a person who enjoyed nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and taking care of his cattle. He will be missed by his family and everyone who knew him.

Travis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of seventy years, Gracie Mae Watson, eight brothers and sisters, Inez, Elvie, Frances, Collin, Ben, Edna, Rosella and Empress.

Travis is survived by a son C. Dean and his wife Elizabeth Watson, Ava, MO, grandsons Rick Watson, Scott Watson, Travis Watson, Nathan Watson, Benjamin Watson, Eric Stenzel, and Ryan Stenzel, and two great grandchildren, Kristen Watson, and Eli Watson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Private viewing for family and friends for Travis will be Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Graveside services will be conducted at the Little Bethel Memorial Park Cemetery in Duncanville, TX, Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M conducted by David Clayton Funeral Home.
