GREENSBORO — John Taylor Jump, Sr. 83, of Virgilwood Drive, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital after a period of declining health.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Forbis and Dick-Guilford Chapel. Rev. Mark Vickers will officiate. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens, with military honors.

He was born on June 26, 1926 at Rheems Creek, N.C. to Centennial Brown Jump and Mary Taylor Jump of Buncombe County. Mr. Jump served his country during WWII, faithfully carrying out his duties as an Army Ranger, landing on the shores of France during the D-Day invasion. After returning home, he was employed in the furniture industry in High Point, and later became dairy farm supervisor for W.D. Coble at Guilford College. He retired from Signal Delivery in 1989 after fifteen years of service in shipping.

Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of 63 years, Wilma Chriscoe Jump; sons Richard Jump and wife Martha Hogan Jump, Ronald Dean Jump and partner, Anthony Dearing , and John Taylor Jump, Jr. He will be fondly remembered by his three grand daughters, Lauren Jump Matthews (spouse Josh Matthews), Katelyn Taylor Jump, and Ivy Erin Jump.
