TAZEWELL, VA - John H. Bennett, 82, formerly of Freeland, Md., died at 1:12 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2003, at Tazewell Community Hospital, Tazewell, Va. He was the husband of the late Shirley Ann (Warner) Bennett.
A graveside service is 11:30 a.m. Saturday at New Freedom Cemetery, New Freedom, with the Rev. Kevin M. Callahan, pastor of Grace Bible Church, New Freedom, officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc., 24 Second St., New Freedom.
Mr. Bennett was born July 2, 1920, in Tazewell, Va., the son of the late William H. and Sarah Belle (Catron) Bennett.
He retired in 1987 from the Maryland State Dept. of Highways, Hereford Shop, after 29 years of service.
He leaves a sister, Mary Williams of Tazewell, Va.; and a brother, Joseph C. Bennett of Dallastown. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Zuchorski.
