He was born in Page County, Virginia and was a son of Nehemiah and Fannie Grove Abbott, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by daughters, Mrs. Blanche Wade of Boonsboro, Mrs. Marjorie Griffith of Baltimore, and Mrs. Elizabeth McFarland of Baltimore, sons, Leo Abbott of Hagerstown, Marvin Abbott of Sharpsburg, Emmett Abbott of Boonsboro, Homer Abbott of Hagerstown, 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Leaf Funeral Home in Williamsport. The Rev. G. Edward Whetstone will officiate. Burial will be in Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray, Virginia.
