Mrs. Jose Smith married J N Adkins on September 5, 1865 in Williamson County, Texas. Rev Dr Jasper N Adkins, a widower had three children Wickliff Eugene Adkins, Mary C Adkins, and Joseph A Adkins. Possible that Jasper had been widowed twice. Jasper and Josephine and combined family are found in the 1870 Florence, Williamson, Texas census. Callaway is listed as Caloway. I have also seen her name as Calloway, Callie. Wickliff is still with his grandparents in Johnson County, Arkansas. By October 31, 1871 Rev Dr J N Adkins is preaching in Lampasas. He was both a pastor and a physician.
Callaway married George Wolf April 23, 1879 in Lampasas County, Texas. She is a widow on the 1900 Lampasas County, Texas census. Mother of seven children and a school teacher. A search of the Lampasas newspapers revealed George was sheriff. In the 1870's he ran on the Green Party ticket per a 1910 paper article about an old election ticket found. I did not locate an obit for George. May 26, 1899 Lampasas Leader newspaper articles mentions the sale of the George Wolf old place near Dr. J N Adkins house in East Lampasas. She can be found on the following census records. 1910 McCulloch County, Texas as head of household; 1920 San Antonio, Bexar, Texas family of R S Crawford, daughters Gladys and Irene; 1930 Dalhart, Dallam, Texas with son Victor Wolf and 1940 Alexandria, Rapides, Louisiana with daughter Juanita in the James R Hollinsworth (Hollingsworth) family. She died in 1945 in Louisiana.
