God needed an angel, and on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, Clarence Roesler, 84 of Angleton, went to be with his Lord & Savior and is now experiencing the glory of Heaven.

Clarence was born on February 24, 1925 to Melinda and Rudolph Roesler in Needville, Texas. He was raised on a farm in Needville, and later enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II, Battle of the Bulge and was in the European Theatre. On January 24, 1948 he married Estelle Margaret Chabisek Roesler. He loved to dance and was known for being the smoothest dancer on the dance floor. Clarence was an avid hunter and fisherman for many years. He also was an active member of the VFW post # 10378, where he worked tirelessly on fish fries and cooking hushpuppies. After working for Phillips Petroleum for 38 years, Clarence retired.

He was a member at St. John Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, served on church council and tended to the yard work for decades. Clarence was proud of and devoted to his family. He coached his sons in sports and later followed his grandchildren in sporting events. He was known as "Pop" to generations of kids among his family and friends.

Clarence leaves behind many loved ones to cherish his memory including his loving wife, Estelle Roesler; daughter, Linda Fox and husband Larry of Needville, TX; sons, Clarence "Arte" Roesler and wife Jeanne of Needville, TX, Doug Roesler and wife Cindy of College Station, TX; grandchildren, Misty King Sanchez and husband Andy of Katy, TX, Mikki Roesler Kalina of Houston, TX and Barry Roesler of New York, NY; great grandchildren, Jeydan Kalina and Jackson Sanchez; brothers, Herman Roesler of Dallas, TX, Bernard Roesler and wife Joan of Stillwater, OK, Carl Roesler and wife Lorraine of Bryan, TX; along with numerous other family members.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 14th at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Angleton. Burial will follow in Angleton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Angleton in memory of Clarence Roesler.
