Daniel Barry Blitch, 76, of 1730 Atlantic Ave. Sullivan's Island, a former civil service transportation supervisor with the U.S. Navy in Rota, Spain, died Friday in a local hospital. A memorial Mass will be announced by McAllister's East Cooper Chapel.
Mr. Blitch was born in Charleston, a son of Norman H. Blitch and Barry O'Driscoll Blitch. As transportation supervisor, he was responsible for all traffic and supplies in and out of the Naval Station in Rota, Spain. He was an active member of Stella Maris Catholic church.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Hyer Blitch; four sons, Daniel B. Blitch, Jr. of Rota, Spain; Michael P. Blitch of Macon, Ga.; Bryan T. Blitch of Summerville and Bruce E. Blitch of Laguna Miguel, Calif.; five grandchildren and a great grandchild.
