Rites for pioneer resident Mrs. Mary L. Garvey were officiated by Rev. G.W. Laney, pastor of the Jean Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were six grandsons - Foy, Pat and John Garvey, Kenneth McGlass and Roy D. Cantrell.
She was united in marriage to J.R. Garvey in 1880. The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in January 1938. The couple came to Young County in 1902 settling on the Archer - Young County line. A portion of their farm lies in each county. Mr. Garvey attained prominence as a stock farmer.
