He was a member of Raleigh Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Battaly worked in entertainment management and the hotel industry. His advocation was fire service and served as Fire Chief in Warren Twp, of Indianapolis. He was a published writer in his retirement, a spokesperson for Organ Donor Awareness, was himself a heart recipient and rode on the Organ Donation float in the Rose Parade.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Battaly; daughter, Pamela Battaly; son, David Battaly; sister, Margaret Piedimonte; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
