Former Vernon resident Gearl A. LaHue, 72, died Monday, June 30, 1997 in a Wichita Falls Hospice.

He was born in Honey Grove, Texas on August 17, 1924. He served as a policeman in Vernon, Electra and Burkburnett, and as a deputy sheriff in Crowell, Big Spring, Tulia and Wichita County. He served two terms as Wichita County Precinct 4 constable. He was baptized in 1960 in Vernon as a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnetta; three daughters, Bonnie and Sharon of Wichita Falls and Pat of Henrietta, Texas; one son, Don of Ft. Worth,Texas, one brother, Clyde E. of Copperas Cove, Texas; three sisters, Madie of Copperas Cove and Emma and Lonnie, both of Vernon; three granddaughters; Lisa of Wichita Falls, Tammie of Ft. Worth, and Beth of Mineral Wells, five grandsons; Sam of Vernon, Danny and Michael and Greg and Jerry, all of Wichita Falls, one great- granddaughter; Haley and one great-grandson: Ian of Ft Worth.
