Etta Baum Midgett, 89, died Jan. 22, 1997. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Austin Cemetery, Kitty Hawk, NC. Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo, is in charge. VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. - Etta Baum Midgett, 89, of Virginia Beach, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, in a Norfolk, VA hospital. Mrs. Midgett, a native of Kitty Hawk, was a retired Dare County school teacher and touched the lives of students from several generations from 1930 to 1973.

She was a member of the Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, Roanoke Island Chapter #79, and the Order of the Aramanth, Pocahontas and the N.C. Retired Teachers.

She was the daughter of the late Edward Nelson and Rosa Midgett Baum and the widow of Luey Alton Midgett.

Mrs. Midgett is survived by two daughters: Alta L. Midgett and Barbara E.M. Carr, both of Norfolk, Va.; one son: l. Edward Midgett of Wanchese; one sister: Irene B. Midgett of Kitty Hawk; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Nellie B. Caldwell and Nita B. Ballance.
