Mrs. Lemon Dies Friday
Local Woman Had Been Ill A Short Time Only
Mrs. James W. Lemon died at her home in Bedford Friday afternoon, after a few days’ illness. The day following her death would have been her twenty-sixth birthday.
She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mathew and was born at Marengo, Iowa, Jan. 16, 1906. Most of her life has been spent in Bedford, where she attended the public schools and graduated from the Bedford high school with the class of 1924.
The year following her graduation she taught in the rural schools of Taylor County. In the fall of 1925 she entered the Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and spent one year there. The next year was spent in the State Teachers College at Maryville, Mo.
She was married to James W. [aldo] Lemon of Maryville May 20, 1923. Two children were born to them, James Mathew and Robert Allen. Mrs. Lemon was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Bedford.
Mrs. Lemon is survived by her husband and two sons, her parents, one sister, Mrs. Helen Tarbill of Sulphur Springs, Iowa, her grandfather, J. M. Mathew of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and her grandmother, Mrs. H. Gant of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. M. R. Talley. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
