Joette Wynne Nesbitt died Feb. 14, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. She was born to parents, Walton and Faye Winger on Feb. 16, 1941.

She was raised in Marshall from first grade at East End School all the way to graduating from Marshall High School in 1959. While in high school she was the lead singer in a group called the Twilighters and was well known for her rendition of "Blue Moon."

Soon after high school she married W.R. "Robbie" Wynne. Together they raised two daughters, Walta Wynne Boaze and Whitney Wynne Burton. After 25 years of marriage, they decided to separate ways but remained best friends till the end. She soon met and married Roy Arch Nesbitt in 1989 and they were together for five years until Roy succumb to cancer in 1993.

She was employed for many years by First National Bank. Joette worked for Texas Bank and Trust and retired after many years of service. Her final years were spent with those she loved the most, family and friends alike. She was very proud of being a member of Cypress Valley Bible Church from its humble beginnings, 35 years ago till today. She always had a great joke to tell, "I do declare" and she loved pulling pranks on people. She loved spending "girl's weekends" with the girls she grew up with, as well as her friends from the Elks Lodge. She played darts every Tuesday night. She always had a blast and a lot of luck playing quarter slots at the boats. She always loved time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. She considered it an honor and a privilege helping to raise her daughter's friends. Her love for them was immense. They were always family to her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Walton Winger; her daughter, Whitney Wynne Burton; a nephew, Tobin Lee Sorenson; husband, Robbie Wynne; husband, Roy Nesbitt; sister-in-law, Barbara Wynne Sorenson and brother-in-law, Earnest Smith.

She is survived by her mother, Faye Winger Pipes of Shreveport; daughter, Walta Wynne Boaze of Jefferson; grandson, Taylor Eugene Boaze of Marshall; great- granddaughter, Keagon Jayce Boaze of Marshall; son-in-law, Howard Burton; grandchildren, Abigail, Bryce and Key Burton, all of Texarkana; stepbrother, Randy Pipes of California; nephews, Tim and Tom Sorenson; niece, Tara Sorenson; brother-in-law, Tobin Sorenson, all of California; stepsons, Lance Nesbitt and Vance Nesbitt; and sister-in-law, Winelle Nesbitt Smith. She is also survived by three men whom she considered her sons, Devin, Shaney and Payton Chambers; and their families.

Pallbearers will be Shaney Chambers, Payton Chambers, Stevie Chambers, Colt Chambers, Jack Wright and Don Whitner. Honorary pallbearers will be George Whaley, Brady Andrews, Trey Weinberg, Dennis Newton, George Young and Sam Hudson.

My mother told me when I wrote this to please say please and thank you to two people who she met in first grade. They stayed with her all the way thru thick and thin. They were Kathy Wright and Don Whitner. A special thank you goes to Michael Bloodworth. When she was in his care, he took care of her like she was his own mother. Downs Funeral Home
