BELLE PLAINE: Mayme Lorene Beal, age 77, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at U of I Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, following an extended illness.

Funeral Services at Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine with Rev. David Crow officiating. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine.

Mayme was born on March 10, 1931, in Belle Plaine, the daughter of Ralph and Helen (Frondle) Kent. On November 1, 1950, she married Clifford Beal at Belle Plaine.He preceded her in death on June 30, 2006.

Mayme owned and operated Beal's Café in Belle Plaine for many years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a volunteer at the Belle Plaine Community Bldg. and the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center. She also assisted with the Fourth of July Celebrations in Belle Plaine. In her leisure she enjoyed crafts.

Surviving are her children, Sandra (James) Blaess of Camanche, Leonard (Jane) Beal of Camanche, Randy (Tina) Beal of Belle Plaine, Ronnie (Teresa) Beal of Grinnell, and Larry (Lori) Beal of Alleman, sixteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Carol (Don) Hlas of Belle Plaine, Hazel Jones of Oquawka, Illinois, and Eunice Houska (Jerry Mann) of Marshalltown; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
