Beth Louise Carson Dunn passed away at her son's home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 in Ogden, Utah following a valiant battle with leukemia. She had been living in Pocatello with her husband Verlyn Dunn and daughter, Val. She was born Jan. 24, 1935 in Homedale, Idaho to Owen and Blanche Carson. Beth attended school there and later graduated from Homedale High School in 1953. She began playing the piano at an early age and became very well known for her musical talent, performing at many public functions. People loved to hear her play, she was loved by many and she loved all those around her. Her greatest joys were her family, playing the piano, spending time at the cabin in Island Park and traveling in the motor home with her sweetheart, Verlyn. Beth worked for Lockhart Co, Financial Credit Corp and later retired from Idaho State University in 1994. She was often the pianist performing for many ISU events following her retirement. Beth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Beth married the love of her life, Verlyn, in 1956 and was later blessed with two sons Greg (Linda) Dunn of Ogden, Utah, Timothy who preceded her in death and a daughter Valerie Dunn of Pocatello. She was blessed with one grandson, Brody Dunn and one granddaughter, Kassia Dunn both of Ogden. She was also blessed with step-grandsons Gerry, Brett and Brian VanVliet and their families. Beth is also survived by two sisters Ruth (Ed) Barberis, St. George, Utah Carmen (Don) Olsen, Layton, Utah and two brothers, Leon Carson, Boise, Idaho and Bill (Sharon) Carson, Boise, Idaho. Beth was preceded in death by her mother, father and two brothers, Richard Carson and Phillip Carson.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Helping Hands Home Health, and Hospice Alliance for the loving care of their mother and wife. A special thanks to the care and compassion received from the doctors, nurses and aides at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City.
