Marienthal - Fred C. Metheney, 78, died Monday evening at his home here after a long illness. Born Aug 2, 1889, in Coffey County, he married Elsie Weaver, Dec 29 1911, at Ottawa. She died in 1939. He married Johanna Berning March 1, 1949, at Marienthal. He moved to Wichita County in 1903 with his parents and was a rural mail carrier for the Marienthal Post Office for 42 years. He retired in 1954.

Member: St. Mary's Catholic Church; Kansas Rural Mail Carriers Association.

Survivors: The widow: daughter, Mrs. Lena Isabelle Roemer, Gove; two grandchildren.

Funeral: 10 a m Thursday at the church. Burial: Leoti Cemetery. Rosary: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Weinmann-Price Funeral Home, Leoti.
