ETHLYN DIMON MANCHESTER, 84, of Haigh’s Pond, Rome RD 1 died suddenly on Thursday April 6, 1989 at Towanda Memorial Hospital. She was born May 29, 1909 in Pike Township, a daughter of Frank and Della Arnold Dimon. She was a graduate of Warren Center High School, class of 1921. Mrs. Manchester attended the South Warren Church, was a charter member of O.E.S. Chapter 498, LeRaysville, a member of the South Warren Cemetery Association and a member of the Northeast Bradford V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was an avid reader who delighted in reading to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a keen interest in history and sports. She was the widow of A. D. (Dick) Manchester who died Oct. 21, 1971. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Mrs. Madeline Allis and Nelsie and Donald Boardman, all of Rome RD and her son and daughters-in-law, Ernest L. (Jid) and Mabel Manchester and Mauriel Manchester, all of Rome RD and Lucille Manchester of Vallejo, Calif.; her sister, Mrs. Robertine Anderson of Montrose; 19 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons, C. P. O. Leon Manchester, retired USN in 1979 and Capt. Leslie Manchester, retired USMC in Dec. 1988 and a sister, Leora Patterson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 82 Main St., Nichols with Rev. George Jatko officiating. Interment will follow in Bradford Co. Memorial Park, Luthers Mills. The family will receive their friends Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel. –Towanda Daily Review
