David Luther and Josephine were the parents of Hughie Preston and Vernie Estelle (Mrs. Wilmer Wright Kiracofe). Josephine died on November 5, 1898.
David and the children lived with his uncle William Henry Landes and his wife Mary Frances Caricofe (Josephine's sister, who would have been both David Luther's aunt and his sister-in-law) until the time of his second marriage.
On April 13, 1902 David Luther married Anna Cornelia Caroline Kiracofe in Mossy Creek. She was the daughter of William Lane Kiracofe and his second wife Lydia Catherine Knott. David Luther was Anna's first marriage.
David Luther and Anna were the parents of Golden Everett, Sylvia Marie, Crawford R., Brownie Bass (infant), Kermit Koontz, Glenn David, Woodrow Wilson, and Brisco Marshall Landes.
