Laverne H. (Adler) Bauer, age 82, of Middleton, formerly of Hillsboro and Wonewoc, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at University Hospital in Madison. She was born on Jan. 24, 1919, in Woodland township, Sauk County, Wis., the daughter of Henry W. and Alta May (Schroeder) Roehrs. She graduated from Wonewoc High School. On July 17, 1976, Laverne was united in marriage to Floyd F. Bauer at New Lisbon Methodist Church. Floyd preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2000. Laverne was employed as a lab technician in cancer research for WARF in Madison for many years, until her retirement in 1981. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria (Alan) Barsness of Verona, and Sue Van Haastert of Middleton; a son, Curtis (Joanna) Adler of Middleton; seven grandchildren, Tim Adler, Todd Adler, Stacy Adler, David (Jodi) Adler, Brenda Barsness, Lisa Van Haastert and Jason Van Haastert; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Phyllis) Roehrs of Sacramento, Calif.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Howard Roehrs; a sister, LaVeda O'Keefe; and a brother, Floyd, in infancy. Funeral services for Laverne H. (Adler) Bauer will be conducted on Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 1 p.m. at THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME, with Father James McNamee officiating. Burial will follow in St. Theresa's Catholic Cemetery in Union Center. Friends may call on Tuesday starting at 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
