Obit, New Bethlehem Vindicator 1934: Bortly B. Stewart, 72, well known business man of Rimersburg, died at his residence on Main street, following an illness of less than one week, Sabbath morning, February 11, 1934, a few minutes after four o'clock. Death was due to an attack of asthma, accompanied by a general organic breakdown. Mr. Stewart was born November 11, 1861, in Porter township, Clarion county, Pa. Here the early years of his life were spent. In 1892 he went to Rimersburg, engaging in the hardware business and continuing until 1908, when he disposed of the business to Mr. J. P. Wilson. During the few succeeding years he represented the American Seedling Machine Company in the capacity of traveling salesman. Always a deep student of agricultural affairs and methods, he was naturally adapted to his new work. Furthermore, he developed a wide acquaintance among farmers over a wide radius and perhaps was known to more people generally than other citizens of Rimersburg. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Funeral services were held at the family home, Tuesday afternoon, February 13, 1934, and were conducted by his pastor, the Rev. M. P. Steele, with Rev. Ralph K. Atchison assisting. Interment was made in the Rimersburg cemetery. Surviving relatives include his widow, Mrs. Anna Craig Stewart, three daughters, Mrs. Harry Kunselman, Mrs.Howard Shepperd, and Mrs. Chester J. Randolph. Grandchildren are Dorothy and Jean Kunselman, Helen Louise and Peggy Lou Randolph and Charles Stewart Shepperd. Also surviving are one brother, Amos Stewart of Callensburg and two sisters, Mrs. Reed Dickey of New Kensington, and Miss Maud Stewart of Rimersburg.
